NorthStar Academy, in partnership with International Christian Online School.ca offers, online ESOL courses with multimedia lessons and 25 hours of one-on-one native English speaker Skype-Time. These online courses provide:
Students will sign-up online and complete a diagnostic test to place them in Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced levels. Once they have received their username and password, they will begin by reading the introduction in their native language. Students will then work through the multimedia assignments and tests, at their own pace. (E.g. 5 hours/ week for 20 weeks or 10 hours/week for 10 weeks). An ESOL teacher and a native English speaker will be assigned to each student for 25 hours of one-on-one conversation per course. The teacher and the tutor will direct and reinforce online lessons. This online combination produces effective instruction and higher native speaker-like proficiency. Multimedia Lessons & Tests These courses combine First Class and Tell Me More software to produce an effective medium for easy navigation through the content and assignments. Students will find: Perfect Pronunciation with our Advanced Voice Recognition and Speech Analysis Tools 37 different types of activities that keep learners engaged. Students will sign-up online and complete a diagnostic test to place them in Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced levels. Once they have received their pass code, they will begin by reading the introduction in their native language. 25 Hours of One-On-One Skype time with a Native English Speaker Each student will be able to connect via Skype, with a native English speaker for 1-2 hours per week. This tutor will reinforce lessons and concepts taught online and engage in relevant and interesting English discussions such as sport, music and church activities.
