Summary of course content and activities:

Students become familiar with the life and teachings of Jesus Christ through a study of selected passages from the four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The course is divided into seven sections:
  • Section 1: Getting to Know Who's Who
  • Section 2: Beginnings to Baptism
  • Section 3: Introducing the Son of God
  • Section 4: Ministry with His Disciples
  • Section 5: Lessons about Life and Death
  • Section 6: The Road to the Cross
  • Section 7: Jesus is Live Forever and Ever!
Who should be taking this course? For whom is this course designed and intended?

The on-line course was designed specifically with grade six in mind, however, it can be used in a grade 5/6 split class or individual classes for grades 5 or 6.

Philosophy statement for and/or behind teaching this course:

In an age where a good role model is hard to find, this course seeks to introduce students to the ultimate role model, Jesus Christ. By studying his life and teachings, students will learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and how to live out his truth in their everyday lives.

Major course goals
  • To understand who Jesus Christ is through a study of his life and teachings in the gospels, as a foundation for trusting him completely.
  • To assist students in personally applying the principles from Jesus' life and teachings.

Students should spend 4 hours a week on this class.

Description of student evaluations, quizzes, and tests:

Included in the evaluations are journal writing, group discussions, vocabulary exercises, weekly quizzes, Bible Memory, miscellaneous assignments, unit review tests and a final exam.
