Who should be taking this course? For whom is this course designed and intended?A grade 7 student who has successfully completed PE 6 or a grade 8 student who has successfully completed PE 7. Philosophy statement for and/or behind teaching this course:The aim of the Kindergarten to Grade 12 physical education program is to enable individuals to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to lead an active, healthy lifestyle. Major course goals: (Alberta Curriculum)Students will acquire skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities; dance, games, types of gymnastics, individual activities and activities in an alternative environment; e.g., aquatics and outdoor pursuits.
Students will understand, experience and appreciate the health benefits that result from physical activity.
Students will interact positively with others.
Students will assume responsibility to lead an active way of life.
Pre-requisite(s):Students taking PE 7 are presumed to have reached the acceptable standard or better in PE 6. Students taking PE 8 are presumed to have reached the acceptable standard or better in PE 7.
