Bible 9Course Name And Abbreviation: Bible 9 Grade Level: Grade 9 Summary of course content and activities: This course teaches students the skills necessary to study the Bible effectively. It begins with a history of how the Bible came to us and then teaches in-depth Bible study skills. Students begin by creating simple verse studies and then move on to learn how to analyze Scripture at a deeper level. Students also learn how to do topical Scripture studies and a comprehensive study of one specific book of the Bible Who should be taking this course? For whom is this course designed and intended? This course is to be completed by students who have successfully completed Bible at the Grade 8 level Philosophy statement for and/or behind teaching this course: Joshua 1:8 says, "Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth, but meditate on it day and night." Deuteronomy 11:19 goes on to tell us to teach God's word to the young so that they can grow up with a firm foundation of what is right and wrong. It is important to learn early in life how to study God's word for one's self. In an age where truth is relative and the line between right and wrong is continually blurred, it is vital that students learn to discern God's truth on their own so that they can have confidence when faced with difficult decisions. Forecasted amount of time required to complete each week's lesson: Students should spend 4-5 hours a week on this class. Description of student evaluations, quizzes, and tests: Students will be evaluated on specified assignments provided in the lessons. These include journals, verse studies, Bible memorization, and various other projects and activities. These will be submitted to the teacher for marking. Closed book tests are given throughout the course Involvement in group discussion will be evaluated. There is no final exam in this course, however, there is a final cumulative project.
