Summary of course content
and activities: In this
class we will learn the difference between a photograph and a snapshot. We
will learn the basics in black and white photography, including care &
handling of a digital camera, cleaning, composition, exposure, and basic
image manipulation. We will learn about digital image acquisition and the
use of tools and filters in Photoshop.

course? For whom is this course designed and intended? Anyone
interested in photography – from beginner to advanced will learn much from
the content of this class

and/or behind teaching this course:
Photographs are used all around us for communication. Cameras were designed
after one of God’s most intriguing designs – the human eye. Just as our eyes
allow us to take in the world God created, photographs can capture what we
see and freeze it so we can share it with others.
Major course goals:
Students will learn how photography developed.
Students will learn the basic parts of their camera and how to use them.
Students will learn about exposure and composition.
Students Will learn about image manipulation using Photoshop.

may be used but student will need to read manual to learn to use it – the
camera must have settings other than “Auto” so the student can change the
exposure manually.

evaluations, quizzes, and tests:
Students will have several tests and quizzes. The majority of the
assignments will be in the form of photography portfolios. Students will
