Religious Studies 25

Grade Level:

Grade 11

Summary Course Content and Activities:

Through class lesson material, group discussion, small group projects, individual projects and activities, and individual Bible study, we will attempt to reach the course goals. The Apostle Paul gives us good direction for this course when he says in Colossians 1:9-10, “We have not stopped…asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will…in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God…”

Who should be taking this course? For whom is this course designed and intended:

Anyone interested in gaining an overview of the New Testament and the major truths contained in this part of the Bible will benefit from this study. Application along with knowledge will be stressed throughout the course.

Philosophy statement for and/or behind teaching this course:

To help students grow in their knowledge and application of God’s truths presented in the New Testament.

Major course goals:

This course will seek to explore the New Testament books of the Bible in an overview fashion. During this exploration students will grow in their knowledge of these New Testament books.

Along with this knowledge will come an emphasis on applying this Biblical knowledge in life. This will take the form of personal application as well as being better able to equip others in works of service.

It is my desire that you learn more about the teachings in the New Testament so that you know more about Jesus Christ and his heavenly Father as found in the New Testament. Then you will be able to know him and love him more and this love will be surely seen by those you come in contact with each and every day.

Doing this will help you fulfill Matthew 5:16, where it says, “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
